PARENTS and PLAYERS:  

Is your daughter interested in playing softball? 

     Yes? Sign-ups will begin on January 21, 2020. The athletic director, Mr. Diehl, will be available during lunches in the High School on January 21 & 22; and in the Middle School on January 23 & 24. 

In order to try-out, play, or participate, your daughter must have a physical and have turned in a completed PIAA physical form (CIPPE) to the Athletic Director, Matt Diehl, and which has been approved by the athletic trainers. This form is found on the Fleetwood Area School District website under Departments; Athletics; and Forms (found on right drop down menu). 

If you are having a physical completed by your family physician, please notify the Athletic Department of your intention before February 6, 2020. 

If you desire to have your daughter receive a physical through the school, complete sections 1 thru 6 of the CIPPE form AND the last page of the Athletic Handbook (also found on-line under Departments; Athletics; and Forms). These must be turned in to the Athletic Department.

     School physicals will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 5:30 to 6:30 in the High School gymnasium for a cost of $20.00 via check made out to: "Fleetwood Area School District." Physicians request short-sleeved shirts, shorts, and glasses or contacts to be worn for the physical.

All CIPPE forms will be due by February 21, 2020 for evaluation by the athletic trainers. NOTE: all participants must be approved prior to the start of practice on March 2, 2020. Approval time required is a MINIMUM of 24 hours after submission of the CIPPE form. 

Did your daughter play a fall or winter sport?

     Yes. Then, a recertification is all that is needed. So, before February 6, 2020, submit a completed Section 7 of the CIPPE form to the Athletic Department Office for approval.

In addition, if you have not paid your activity fee to the district, please fill out the required form and take care of your payment.

Also, bring necessary gear. Make sure to bring your player/parent acknowledgement if you have not turned in already - copy may be found under Team Files on this web page.

Tuesday - 3:00 - 5:00 - day 2 of try-outs - softball field - if at all possible, we will be outside; dress according!! Bring a large trash bag for your belongings should it rain....... Also, bring necessary gear. If weather is too bad, raining or field too wet or muddy, we will hold try-outs in the high school gymnasiums from 7:30 to 9:00. Listen for an announcement. As of now,1:15, we are still outside. Meet at the high school; we'll decide what we are doing about 3. TY

Friday - 3:00 - 5:00 - practice - softball field NOTE CHANGE: THREE SCENARIOS - Scenario One - Uniform distribution immediately after school. If weather okay, all players will hit in the outside cage at the field; dismissal to follow. This is for today!! - Scenario Two - Uniform distribution immediately after school. If weather or field conditions poor (they are); therefore, parent pick-up after distribution; about 3:15. Practice at 7:30. All players will hit in the indoor cage. Dismissal by 8:30. Scenario Three - Uniform distribution immediately after school and practice from 4:30 to 6:00 (this depends on whether track uses their indoor time). Check later in day for actual plan. Thanks for your understanding!

NOTE - Players should arrive several minutes early and stretch on their own before hitting!!!

Week of March 9, 2020   - Inclement weather time is 4:30 to 6:00

Monday - Varsity AWAY Scrimmage at Boyertown - 4:00. Junior Varsity - AWAY Scrimmage against Boyertown - 4:00. Bus departs at 2:10. Student dismissal is 2:00. Wear GRAY uniform.  NOTE - Scrimmages may be played as scheduled above, OR may be played as back to back scrimmages Varsity followed by JV. Check on Monday morning, 3/9. Thanks for your understanding! As of 9:00 a.m., the scrimmages will be played back to back. ALL players are expected to remain for both games and travel home on the bus together!! Bring proper attire as the day cools; and Bring a snack!! Meet in the HS gym lobby. Wait for a coach before boarding the bus! Field location behind the high school across from Bear Stadium.

Friday - Varsity HOME Scrimmage against Northern Lebanon - 4:00. Junior Varsity - NO SCRIMMAGE - Practice from 3:30 to 5:00. NOTE CHANGE - JV will scrimmage Northern Lebanon  immediately following the varsity scrimmage. Wear GRAY uniforms. NOTE: Varsity players will be dismissed at the end of the game after post-game meeting. All "swing" players must stay for both games!! NOTE CHANGE: Due to conditions, the scrimmages against Northern Lebanon are cancelled for today. As of now, 10:00 a.m., practice will be held outside at 3:00. Dress accordingly for the conditions. 

The season has been suspended from March 16th to March 30th. Re-evaluation shall occur March 30th. 

NOTE CHANGE: Get out and stretch, condition, find a wall to bounce a tennis ball from or a friend with whom to play catch. Loosen arms properly before throwing. Throw some pop-ups, etc. 

Upon return, we may have a lot of games to play in a short period of time???? We shall see.

Based upon the latest from the Governor and Dr. Miller's communication, nothing will happen until???? Go outside at your home, do some soft hands drills, toss a ball in the air, if you have a sibling/parent available at home, play a little catch, watch some videos on hitting, fielding, etc. Stay HEALTHY and SAFE.

As a result of the closure of schools, PIAA has canceled all spring sports for 2020. It is an unfortunate situation, but your safety and welfare are paramount. Please check back for information regarding turning in your uniform. Stay safe, healthy, and work diligently on your academics.

Tuesday, May 26th, uniform return will occur between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in front of the gymnasium entrance to the High School. This is a drive-by, drop-off return of your uniform. Clean, dry uniforms are to be placed in a plastic bag with your name on the outside, or on a note card/paper inside. Give it to a coach through the vehicle window.
